Learning together is having Mrs. Humber talk with stu- dents about ‘the facts of life’? Learning together is having Coach Works give advice to students who need it. Teachers and students at Spencer High School know that education is a continu- ous process and that learning together, the sharing of knowledge, is fundamental. Therefore, at work and at play, students and teachers learn together. Learning together is having the band march down the field in a dignified manner. LEARNING TOGETHER Learning together is helping each other prepare to jump off the wall while hanging on a rope. Learning together is having Mrs. Banaszak show a group of students how to throw a football. Learning together is sitting at a table with classmates draw- ing and painting pictures. Muscogee County School District Spencer High School 4340 Victory Drive Columbus, Georgia 31903 October 13, 1982 Dear Students: As we look at the picture of the '80's, we see a world filled with turmoil, strife, and despair. Our economy and the unemployment rate are very real areas of concern for each of us. Everything that the people of the United States have believed in and worked for during the past 200 years seems to be collapsing around us. In order to help bring an end to the discontent and chaotic conditions that prevail, all people of this great country are going to have to pull to- gether with the spirit on which this country was begun. Education is essential for any country to survive and progress. This is as true today as it was when this country was founded. At Spencer we are very proud of the educational opportunities provided for our students. All students should accept the challenge of developing to their fullest potential. They should strive to learn all that they can in order to control their own destiny, academically, politically, and socially. I challenge you to be aware of the many courses--academic, vocational, and enrichment--that are offered to you and of the many clubs and organizations to which you may belong. By becoming involved in as many of these as possible, you will broaden your horizon and will be ready for whatever challenge you are presented with in the future. The future is in your hands. Be prepared for it.
