Spencer High School was erected in 1930 on Tenth Avenue and Eighth Street. In the building of the school, di- rectors of the Rosenwald Fund contributed 522,500 and Dr. George Foster Peabody, noted philanthropist, donated the sum of 355,000 Also, a substantial con- tribution from the late G. On February 19, 1965, the Board of Education authorized a contract in the amount of 3137.000 for an addition to the school which provided additional classroom and office space. Spencer High School is a firm link in the chain of educational progress in M uscogee County as celebrate THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED YEARS. The Class of 1968 in honor of WILLIAM HENRY SPENCER offers a tribute to his memory as an educator and a friend of youth The noble name of William H. Spencer High School is testimony of the high esteem in which he was held by the citizens of Columbus, Georgia. He is indeed, an integral part of THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED YEARS.
