5551 Wadsworth W. Gentry Assistant Principal From The Assistant Principal: We congratulate the members of the Senior Class for all which they have ac- complished thus far. To reach this status is no small achievement. You belong to the favored few who by the force of environment coupled with the ability and determina- tion have attained an enviable position on the ladder of life. Yours is the opportunity to help to build a new and better social order. Civiliza' tion is now passing through one of her great transition periods. The issue will depend largely upon the leadership of today. The leadership must be wise enough to preserve all the good of the ages past and broad enough to take into consideration all the factors and forces of our modern world. The challenge of the task is yours. May your life be one of service, bringing happiness and prosperity to you. Mr. W. W. Centry Assistant Principal

THE PRINCIPAL Eddie T. Lindsey, Principal Four years ago hardly anyone gave cent to the thought that the class of 1968 woud graduate during the Centennial year of public education in .1luscog'ce County. Nou' it appears significant that such an occasion coincides with the 1968 commencement season because as the school system mahes history so does the illustrious class of 1968. It is also significant that you chose to rezferc the many years of public education in the county by allowing this edition of the SPENCERIAN': to depict the trials, struggles, and glories of the past. Unly time will tell what the future holds for each member of the 1963 graduating class. Our hope is that sudden success would come to each of you, yet experience has taught us that success comes as a result of in,- telligence coupled with hard work and continuous striving. The administration and staff of Spencer High School have lalnored unceasingly for the past four years to provide you with the necessary attributes that will enahle you to succeed. Numerous activities have been af- forded you with the hope that you would grow and develop into successful and worthwhile citizens of our democratic society. As you emlnark on the journey to success. we admonish you to forever look to the hills from whence cometh your health. strength, stamina, and desire. ln addition we charge you to indulge in reflections on past erents and personalities that aided in your development. for nothing is more pitiful than one who Uscales the ladder of success and then scorns the base degrees by u-litcli he did ascendw. Spencer can never forget you, for you gazfe to her many glories that u-itt stand as landmarks and re- cords for years to come. ln the years ahead Spencer will cherish you, and by all means we expect you to cherish and hold high the good name of Spencer. E. T. Lindsey, Principal
