To us, she is a statue to be cherished forever. Though we may journey far, well forget her never. No, we didn’t realize in an earlier grade The efforts she exhibited, the prices she paid, To refine our minds and make our hearts true, But, she never complained, as others would do. Mere words cannot express our gratitude to you And as time passes by, dear Alma Mater true, This voice of loyalty will remain with us In this sacred place of love do we substantiate our trust. You’ve given us hope that will come soon no more Your arms protect us now as many times before. Only now do we realize that this is the last, For, soon our secure world will be a part of the past. Though we must soon depart, it is not farewell, For soon we’ll be back with stories to tell Of the goals we’ve accomplished, the fame we’ve made, That assure us of the worthiness of the prices we paid. To the hallow’d Halls of Spencer ev’ry voice will bid farewell And shimmer off in twilight like the old vesper bell. One day a hush will fall The footsteps of us all Will echo down the hall and disappear But as we sadly start Our journeys far apart A part of every heart will linger here In the sacred Halls of Spencer, where we’ve lived and learned to know That thro’ the years we’ll see you in the sweet after glow.
