encenan Published by The Class of ’63 Spencer High School Columbus, Georgia FOREWORD The class of ’63 has made an indelible mark in the annals of Spencer High. Our contributions and aspirations are recorded in this edition of the “Spen- cerian. The days ue spent at Spencer will forever cling to our memories as we embark on journeys that will catapult us to the summit of success. As we travel along life's wearisome path, Shakespeare's utterance will reign supreme— u Parting is such sweet sorrouYet, we are cognizant that there is a realm where the rainbow never fades and where the stars will be spread before us like islands that slumber on the ocean. Parting and forgetting? This we would never do. The 1963 Spencerian seeks to reveal our great thoughts, our great affections, the truths of our life, and the eternal place that Spencer High holds in our hearts. Caesar Marshall, Editor-in-Chief © Margie Cannon, Associate Editor DEDICATION uHonor thy jxirents. those that gave ye birth, and Hatched in tenderness thine earliest days, and trained th e up in youth, and loved in all. Honor. obey, and love them; it shall find their souls with holy joy. and shall bring down God s richest blessings on thee; and in days to come, thy children, if they're given, shall honor thee, and fill thy life with peace. The class of '63 dedicates the 1963 Spencerian to those who are next to God, our parents. DuVaul PRINCIPALS MESSAGE As I salute the Class of 1963, do so with mixed emotions. IP hen I look back upon the years you have spent here, and see your accomplishments and the honor ami distinction you have brought to Spencer, on the gridiron, on the Dramatic Stage, in the Choral Group, and in the field of Oratory— am proud of you; but when I note that you are leaving vacancies which will not be easily filled; I tremble. Life is a continuous j anorama—the stage is set and the sjtectators are always critically watching the performers. As individuals, we must play our role, be it good, excellent, or poor—we must perform. For four years you have been rehearsing your lines and jyerfecting your ac- tions. Now you must appear. Are you ready? Do you have strength of character? Are you sure of yourself? Alas! The curtains rise—the lights flash—you are on!! This “O Class of 1963”, is your day. It is all you have; use it well.
