foreword Nothing tried, nothing done,- nothing ventured, nothing won. Any success is measured by the total amount of earnest la- bor put into the effort by all concerned with it. There must always exist a firm belief that any goal is ultimately attainable. The hours spent in preparing this year's Spencerian are illimi- table. All of the parents, teachers, students, and the principal have contributed directly or indirectly to the success of this endeavor. It is with profound gratitude that we acknowledge the cooperation of those concerned with this effort. We well realize that dealing with 118 seniors is an extremely difficult task. But Principal C. W. DuVaul has found time to aid us in our endeavors and guide us in solving our problems. His sound advice has proven beneficial to us today, and it will have unlimited influence on our post-graduation lives. The faculty has played an important part in our scholastic lives. Certainly, their instruction has not been limited to school books. Their sponsorship of co-curricular activites has provided a large amount of the social pleasure that we have enjoyed during our five-year stay at Spencer High School. We are especially grateful to our class advisors, Mr. G. E. Pope, Mrs. R. E. Childs and Miss C. M. Webb, for their patience and understanding in counseling with us. We are fortunate to have them as the source of inspiration that is constantly in demand. We are appreciative of the fact that several individuals have, without any provocation whatever, been of great assistance to us in our efforts. For these reasons, we awaited commencement with no noticeable amount of anticipation. Our cherished memory of school days at Spencer shall be enduring. THE SENIOR CLASS 1952

dedication BECAUSE of his unlimited talent as an educator, his un- dying faith in youth, his memorable achieve- ments which have helped to make Spencer High School a credit to the city and state, his varied participation in civic affairs, his seventy years of experience which more than qualify him to give invaluable advice, his un- selfish devotion to duty, his great contribu- tions to the vocational field, his straightfor- wardness and mettle, his outstanding service to the Church, school, and community, we, the Class of '52, proudly and affectionately dedicate the 1952 edition of The Spencerian to the amiable Professor GEORGE FRANKLIN RIVERS
