Spencerians, working and playing together, have developed stronger school spirit and better understanding of the school and of each other. To spotlight all the most important activities would be impossible because everything is important. But some things about our school life will be remembered more than others and those things are the ones that were highlighted in 1958-1959. S TABLE OF CONTENTS SCHOOL LIFE ...,,O..,O,. .......... These familiar words are heard each Thursday as Janet Wray makes her weekly rounds selling school news. Thank goodness there is only one rough initia- tion a year. This was a familiar saying heard among the G.A.A. initiates. Mrs. Hoppe, Senior class sponsor and English teacher, escorted some Senior students to Indiana University. There they were shown different sec- tions of I. U. in which they were interested. TYPIC L SCHOOL D Y WM I-.fa Mr. Spangler's government class listens as Emma Hutcherson gives a report on Current Events After-school work is not always limited to students. Lois Galimore proves this by keeping her Senior English class in hysterics. Carlos Correon, a Mexican student, shows his classmates a picture of a typical Spanish fiesta. F l L!! T LE T AND SKILL RE EEDED X 5 Miss Modesitt, student teacher, demonstrates a sewing technique to girls from Mrs. Kin ney's Home Economics class. The high school chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Perry, added much emphasis to the true meaning of Christmas by sing- ing five religious numbers in the Christmas Program. ff' Dave Stannard and .lim McCann are admiring the clever work of Mrs. Hight's art class. ,f C' Who knows? Some day these industrious boys may be building homes on the moon. Learning to set up type are John Bailey and Mike Dearinger. This should he helpful fo them in their not so distant future. MORRIS, Proprieior MELICK FLORIST DR. JOHN PAPADAKOS Op'I'omeI'ris+ We, the Seniors of 1959, leave the halls of Spencer with smiles of achieve- ment. As the world demands more and more of its graduates, the Seniors of 1959 realize the responsibilities that lie ahead. The spotlight focuses on the past year, bringing back memories, and then on to the future. What lies in store for the class of '59? That there will be moments of trouble, deep sorrow and great happiness, we know. Life is strange, and sometimes the spotlight seems dim - the way uncertain. Then through the haze, there appears a thin glimmer of light which becomes larger and larger until the pathway is clear again. We do the difficult immediately, the impossible takes a little longer!
