M r s. Gwynne Payne foui in number. The Club was organized on the third Tuesday of Septem- ber, 1930, and meets on every first and third Tuesday of each month. Much pep and interest is shown by the Club as it is a bachelor organization with only one exception. The Club is composed entirely of sophomores. Olson Warren The Hiking Club was organized at the first of the school year and is the first Hiking Club in Spencer High School. The club was organized with Miss Julia Plumer as the sponsor. The club adopted the name of Scotch Tramps after the Scotch who are great hikers. The Hiking Club started to work at once. They planned many hikes but only a few were successful because of the bad weather which hindered the taking of hikes. But the hikes which were successful were very much enjoyed by the members of the club. At the regular club meetings the Hiking Club discussed hiking equip- ment and dress, and the benefit derived from hiking. In the regular meetings the club had very interesting programs, some pertaining to hiking. Page ninety nme

A., .... ....., F r a n c is Frail The purpose of this club is to study the various resources, beauty and appreciation of West Virginia. This club is opened to all grades and classes who want to gain knowl- edge and to show their appreciation for West Virginia. The club has been very active all through the year, and has had the opportunity to exchange information with other counties for that of Roane. Yes, we are widely known and will be far better known at the end of the school term. Many of the members are taking examinations for club pins. These pins will show to you just how hard we have been working. The club has enrolled with the State Department, and is carrying out the work outlined for it to do. Our club instructor, Miss Harrison, has been wo1'king in every Way that is possible for the advancement of the club, and the members appre- ciate it very much. Our big goal is knowledge of West Virginia, and We certainly enjoy working for it. This being the first year of the organization, it has proven to be very successful. The club is composed of members from all four classesg we have as our sponsor Miss Louise Roberts.
