Wwitfm Aia Young Tum Spencer had a young group of wrestlers this season. Many had no junior high experience so they did a lot of learning. The team record was 2-4 in conference and 2-7 overall. Injuries slowed progress down early in the season. The team lost Shane Elsinger to an injury during the first match and John Zenner with an elbow injury during practice following the first match. After four weeks. John was able to return to wrestling moving on to runner-up in the Regional Finals. John then advanced to the State Tournament placing 6th. He helped keep Spencer's fine tradition, making it the 5th year in a row that the Spencer Wrestlers ad- vanced and placed at State. This made it 9 for 12 for the Rockets. Team captain were John Zenner and Shane El- singer. MVP was given to John Zenner. Most Im- proved-Greg Powers. Most Pins-John Zenner, Most Takedowns-Greg Powers. Most Mat Time-John Zen- ner. 2 28
