We feel the program is headed in the right direction, after the 1987 season and are looking forward to the upcoming years. The seniors should be especially congratulated for improving from 0-9 as sophomores to 3rd place as seniors. Senior Jeff Yetter made the accomplishment of being an all state linebacker. The team lost Shane Elsinger to an injury during the first match and John Zenner with an elbow injury during practice following the first match. After four weeks. John was able to return to wrestling moving on to runner-up in the Regional Finals. John then advanced to the State Tournament placing 6th. He helped keep Spencer's fine tradition, making it the 5th year in a row that the Spencer Wrestlers ad- vanced and placed at State. This made it 9 for 12 for the Rockets. The policy developed drew the attention of area news media. About 20% of the high school students took advantage of this new change. Certain steps had to be taken to qualify a student for an excused absence. Before students were granted their excuse, they needed a parent permission slip, a clearance slip and all work had to be completed in advance as well as proof of ownership of a hunting license. 36 Smooth Yeav Fot Studuit CwMtil The 1987-88 Senior High Student Council kicked off the year with a great homecoming. Next on the agenda for the council was a Christmas dance held December 18th and then a Valentines dance in February. Much time and energy went into preparation for these dances, advertis- ing. ticket selling, decorating the gym and clean-up. Dur- ing the week of Valentines. Student Council held the annual winter Olympics which brought about many laughs including the Newly Wed Game at the end of the week. Spring Fever Reliever week was April 25th. The shows were nearly opposite in tone. PLAYING DOCTOR was a delightful farce that kept the audience laughing throughout. While we think of the memories Of the years gone past. Tears fill our eyes Because it's all gone. We're starting a new life. We have to move on. We hope friends will keep in touch As the years pass by us. Although it hurts inside We'll try not to cry. We think of kindergarten And our first day. Now, we've reached the end We are going away. How do you say good-bye To friends who mean so much? Will there be time To sincerely keep in touch? You'll always have the memories Of your school years from day one, Don't think of school as ending Think of a new life just begun.
