Drama Tries Different Production Masque and Bauble underwent some changes this year. Instead of a full production in the fall, several members performed Improvisational Theater for grades 1-6. We also prepared a Reader's Theater in December and performed both in school and in the community. In the spring, we moved into the wrestling gym. Our light structure was permanently installed and our acting area became full arena. The first production in our new home was Story Theater by Paul Sills, a collection of Grimm's fairy tales and Aesop's fables. 1986-87 was a very good year!

Challenges Provided Through Academic Programs The Academic Decatholon completed its second year at Spencer High School. The purpose of this program was to give students a chance to experience the challanges of academic competition. This competition consisted of math science, social studies, economics, fine arts, and English. The students were selected by advisor Mrs. Rannow. These selections were based on faculty recommendations and interested students with qualifying grade points. The National Honor Society was a nation-wide organization of chapters designed to enhance leadership, service, and character achievement. Spencer High's NHS co-sponsered Project Merry Christmas which provided care packages for the needy in the Spencer area. The High Quiz Bowl team was the third academic program at Spencer High School. Although the team was defeated in their first round, Spencer High School received a $300 scholarship for Viterbo College in La Crosse, WI. This money was held in an account for a student who wanted to go to Viterbo. As of the end of the 1986-87 school year, the Spencer High School teams had received $1000 in scholarships for Spencer High School.
