Rockets Enjoy a Victorious Homecoming Homecoming '72 marked a departure from tradition as this year the parade with the class floats was missing. In an attempt to revitalize school spirit the Seniors decided the classes would decorate the high school and be judged on their efforts. To add excitement a series of actviity days were in- itiated; Monday became Inside-Out Day, Tuesday brought on Greaser-Freak Day, Wednesday found everyone licking sucers, on Thursday students came attired as hobos, and Student-Takeover Day fell on Friday. Friday evening found the cheerleaders presenting a skit-filled pep rally capped by the annual bonfire. Satur- day, the 30th of September, brought a hard fought football game in which the Rockets emerged victorious over Mara- thon, 14-0. The celebration was completed that evening when Tayles played for the Homecoming dance. BELOW: Bruce Bonitz runs into opposition. BOTTOM: Both spirits and blood pressure rise before the ball is snapped. 8

“Kola” Plays At Junior Dance Following the pattern set from the year before, the Junior class of Spencer High sponsored a dance instead of a formal prom. This rock dance and concert took place in the R. J. Tack Auditorium on Friday, April 25, and featured Kola, a rock group from Minneapolis. The dance, which lasted for three hours, was en- joyed by all who attended. RIGHT AND BELOW RIGHT: Kola entertains at the rock concert sponsored by the Junior class.
