THE CRUCIBLE, by Arthur Miller, cen- ters around the Salem witch-hunts of the seventeenth century. It engulfs the endless struggle between the rights of free men and mass efforts to destroy them under the guise of defending decency. Boasting a cast of twenty-two, the play was performed in a run of three nights. Although each member of the cast and crew put in over 120 hours of rehearsal, all agreed that the resulting production was worth the effort. Proctor, Cheever, and Willard relax before the performance.
