Superintendent's Message It is again my pleasure to address a few remarks to the students of Spencer High School. I wish to ex- press a deep appreciation to those students who do so much to help make our school program a success. In a small high school a select few must do the work of many and those few have done well. I con- gratulate these students and express a hope that more students will, in the future, assist in making our school an even bigger success story. George R. Nikolay Principal's Message It is sometimes said that life is but a series of trials. If this is so, then life is also a series of decisions. Fallible man confronted with trials, and therefore, inevitable decisions, will succeed some- times and fail on others. Too often we dwell upon these end results--these successes and the failures-- with little regard for the fact that such results are inevitable. Thus, we suffer the pangs of remorse or regret in our failure, or glory in our attainments. We judge ourselves and others on the basis of how often we succeed or how often we fail. Would it not be more worthwhile to place the emphasis on the trying” rather than on the result of the trial? There is something positive no matter what the results. If life is but a series of trials, then perhaps we should place our value, and therefore our judgment of ourselves and others, on how often and how hard we try, not on how often we succeed or fail. R. M. Krueger
