r ! -«■ e V PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Although messages usually present a point of view, a personal preference mo- tivates me to present this first of its kind as a questioning. Throughout history man has fought and died for an idea, or you might call it an ideal, called “the dignity of man.” It is, I think, important to note that whenever and wherever he has achieved it, he has cherished it above all else he does or can achieve. This, obviously, leads to a series of questions. What is dignity? Why is it sought, desired, and respected by all men? What does it consist of and how does one achieve it? When does one have it or lack it? As a person grows in knowledge and maturity, should he not also grow indigni- ty? Should not each person place at the top of his list of desired achievements, DIGNITY? If so, when does one start? ADMINISTRATOR’S MESSAGE Certain basic needs are common to most people and most times. A child’s needs are at first intensely and narrowly personal, but as he matures, they broaden and become more generally socialized. Struggling to satisfy his needs, students seek to maintain the precarious balance between personal happiness and social ap- proval, and that is no easy task. I wish to suggest two ways to help you meet this challenge. The first and most important is to READ; read widely, yet selectively and carefully. The second suggestion is to maintain a close association with friends who will help you to know what is right and better still, to do what is right. Roland M. Krueger
