THE YORKVILLE YOUTH COUNCIL HO can say what gn es the greatest thrlll rn the world' For those who are on the Yorkvllle Youth Councxl the greatest thrlll IS hearmg oneself called teach by the chlldren As teach each junnor solunteer attempts to carry out thc threefold purpose of Yorkulle to keep the chnldren off the streets to teach them how to play and to try to gne each child a lnttle happiness and help Thcrc are actmtles for all interests arts and crafts pamtlng quiet games music storles and actmtles On entering Yorkulle and order Instead there are screammg cnergctnc llttlc chlldren all set to see lf they can fo1l the xolunteer s attempts at order For at Yorkulle the children practlce an exery man for hrmself polxcy Take pamtmg as a typical class rn a typrcal day Frrst the chxldren are all settled down wlth all thcrr pamtmg materlals The chlldren are taught how to mrx pamt to get dlfferent colors That proves a mnstake' The result IS a complete and utter chaos of paint streaked ehlldren volunteer and room and raucous screammg so loud one literally cannot hear This to the volunteer s grlef IS all Consldered part of the fun The pandemomum is broken m a welcome way with four oelock mrlk after whlch the tumult and the shouting begms agam Eventually the two hour session ends and the vocal chord weary battle weary volunteer wends a dazed way homeward wrth the happy knowledge that xts all ID a good cause IDN Svb I Ln Ylaxrstlf 4 N 51 .
