W 9:9 9 JJ7 . 53.599 In the beginning there was founded a nation based on- the t :'- - ideals, principals. hopes and dreams of a people, for a people and by a people who searched for FREEDOM of religion, speech and life itself. We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their greater certain inalienable rights. And there was another beginning for another people; but not of these people, nor by these people. These were a Black people who lost their FREEDOM in the land of dreams. ideals. hepes and liberty. To Black people from Africa, America the land of the free was primarily a place of oppression and suffering, You who bow, you who mourn, you who die one day like that without knowing why you who struggle, who sit up and watch so the other can rest you who no tonger look with taughter in your eyes you my brother with the face of fear and anguish Rise up and shout NO!!!!!!! As it was at the start it is today; with the Afro American in conquest of FREEDOM. The chains that bound them are no longer seen, but they are still felt. The experiences of the times have changed from underground roads, insurrections, massacres, hangings and floggings t0 riots, sitvinst marches, and trials, but the struggle continues. For my people lending their strength to the years, to the gone years and the new years, and the maybe years, washing, ironing, cooking, scrubbing, sewing; for my people blundering and groping and floundering in the dark of churches and school and clubs and societies, associations and councils; preyed on by facile force of state and fad and novelty, by false prophet and holy believer. . . Let a new earth rise. The cries of FREEDOM can be heard faintly in the past, and echo louder today. Some say we should be satisfied, some say what more do we want. Some truty believe we are free. White America does not understand this longing for FREEDOM. g able to say what is on your mind and talk about the things we know FREEDOM means bein should be better. 0 .1 FREEDOM means being able to make your space in time and if we try there is no doubt we can work it out. .g: r,- - . .. . :Wu. ; Aral: 14 15 There is a long journey ahead so we might as well begin. Our true selves are somewhere out beyond the stars. It is time for us to try uniting, we got to make a whole new scene maybe then we can understand what FREEDOM IS. When it is finally ours, this FREEDOM, this liberty. this beautiful and terrible thing, needful to man as air usable to earth, when it finally belongs to us all. when we have done our part and reached our goals then and only then can we stand. look back and say . . .
