611155 I-fzslary Green' Perhaps the flfty boys and glrls who one sunny September morntng 1nl949 eag rly cllmbed from the school bus or ran all the way from thelr homes lh our falr vlllage were green but we dld not stay that way long We found our way to the freshmen rooms and were greeted by Mmss Noel and Mr Huddle freshman sponsors As ms often the case we found some left overs who dld not make very deslrable leaders for green freshmen who are not sure of then- way around e soon found that lt was not w1se to follow 1n the footsteps o L C a d t e others e somal actxvlty o the 'ear was a par at Speedwell 1 h School ur prlnelpal was Mr W P Lxvesax and our ellss presldent was Merle Neece On October 12 of the next term we were greeted bx Mrs Flan nagan Our numbe r had decreased conslderably Only thxrty three appeared for the second year We lost one of our members B C Cau dlll 1n the pollo epxdemmc of that summer We were led by Frankhn Crockett who was our presldent e had a new prmcmpal Mr W S Graybeal The soc1al hxghllght of the year was a wemer roast at Carter s Memor1alWays1de Park After the second year there were only twenty three boys and glrls left wxth Mrs Dora B Wmlhams our Jumor sponsor and Merle Neece our pres1dent Mr W J Reardon Jr was the new prmcxpal The h1ghl1ghts of the ye ar were a trip to I kes1de Bcys Be autx Pageant three one act plays a cotton party and the endmng ofthe vear wlth the Junior Se nmor banquet Now we have moved tothe great stage of the last and f1nal'ye r wxth only twenty of the or1gm1lf1fty under the guldance of our senxor sponsor Mrs Roxy G Donaldson our prmnclpal Mr J Reardon and our class presldent Janet Wxllxams We look forward to the class p1c mc class play Junlor Se mor banquet and last but most xmportant of a the commencement exercxses when those heepskxns are Ll gl sr... .fkd 41 -ww ., N: if 19344.
