Class H zstory We the Semor Class of 1951 began our new path of H1gh School hfe on September 3 1947 As Green Freshmen we had forty sxx members Mrs Wxlham Harms was our sponsor The lngh hght of th1s year was a tr1p to Skyhne Drxve for a p1cn1c Durlng our second year of hxgh school we were known as Dumb Sophomores We had Mrs Donald Tuggle as Class Sponsor A w1ener roast at the C C C Camp was enjoyed as one of the brzght spots of the year As we progressed through our thxrd year we were known as Jolly Jumors a well earned txtle We had Mrs James A W1111ams as our sponsor she had already been our sponsor 1n the grades A basketball party for the boys and g1rls a w1ener roast at Carter Memor1al Park and the Jumor Sen1or Banquet made thxs a most successful year As the doors of Ole Speedwell Hxgh swung open for the 1950 51 our last glorxous year of h1gh school We had only twenty three members out of the forty s1x Freshmen who started the long Journey Some are servmg mn the Armed Forces some have the knot practlcally txed wh11e others have no future planned as yet We have Mrs Roxy G Donaldson as sponsor one who has tned to guxde and show us the rlght road to take Th1s year the Semors wxll graduate ln whxte gowns for the fzrst tzme m the h1story of the school The hxgh lxghts of the year are a class party a Semor pxcmc and the .Tumor Semor Banquet Now we are mn sxght of our goal Graduatlon We reahze that our days of preparatxon are passmng, and we are now standing on the threshold of hfe Some of us wall contlnue our preparation 1n college but most of us w1ll not have the opportumty for future ecucatxon We feel that we through our study and our contacts wlth our teachers and fellow students, have learn ed enough to apprecxate our motto The road of l1fe IS too short for faxl ure 3 ' .
