URROU DI mls it real?' Although the art display as Christmas looked bonafide, no student tried to sample it. The member of Mr. Praed's art classes worked together making their display the most original at S.H.S. The early Christmas present for the art department was the new room with more space and better facilities. Problems of elbows are no longer a bother. Progress in the science department was emphasized at Speedway High this year both by a new biology room with stainless steel equipment and by forming a new science club. The new Junior High Science Club was established to get more Speedwayites interested in the science field. I OUR ALISTS WORK For the first time at S.I-I.S. the Publications Department was divided into two classes. First period class, Jouralism III and IV, was for those interested in working on the annual. Fifth period class, Journalism I and II, was for those pupils interested in publishing the newspaper. This year in Journalism I and II 29 pupils served as reporters. Maryann Dobson, Editor-in-chief, was the only elected editor, this year was her second year on the Speedette staff. Other editorships were alternated and shared by each member of the staff. Through- out the year Maryann and her staff published numerous extras in ad- EW PAPER Who, what, why, where, when, and how were the bywords of the News Bureau. Weekly deadlines were met by Donna Wright, Teen Star: Marcia Keever, Newsg Judy Sellers. Western Sung and Alice McCracken, Times. Sports reporters Jim McClamroch, Star, John Robinson, Times, and Steve Hensler, News Knot picturedlg raced to phones following sporting events to turn in stories. During the summer, News Bureau Chief Donna Wright attended the I.U. Journalism Institute.
