The member of Mr. Praed's art classes worked together making their display the most original at S.H.S. The early Christmas present for the art department was the new room with more space and better facilities. Problems of elbows are no longer a bother. Progress in the science department was emphasized at Speedway High this year both by a new biology room with stainless steel equipment and by forming a new science club. The new Junior High Science Club was established to get more Speedwayites interested in the science field. THE WORK BEGINS. . . The expansion program at S.H.S. continued in the spring of '58 by breaking ground for a new eight classroom wing at the west end of the building. The new wing received much interest and recognition from Speedwayites--young and old. The new wing was completed and the first classes were held on December 1, 1959. Dur- ing the P.T.A. Open House on March 3, the eight new rooms were the focal point for tour- ing visitors. . . .THE FINISHED PRODUCT
