This year there were 9 additions to the fac- ulty. Mr. Adams, who is a co-sponsor of the iunior class, teaches physics, algebra, and math. Mrs. Carl, who graduated from lndi- ana University, is an English teacher to 7th, 8th, and 10th graders. A teacher of history, orientation, and geography, Mr. Huckle- berry also is a co-sponsor of the sophomore class. Mrs. Kendall who had substituted at Speedway schools before, ioined the staff as a regular in the English department. Cap- able of teaching three languages, Miss Leet- mae does lust that--teaching Spanish, English, and German. Miss Pumphrey, who enioys dancing, teaches gym, home economics, and health. Chosen as the one to assist Mr. Wick- er in the music department, Miss Rust is assistant director of the choruses and bands. Homemaking is Miss Swank's field. Miss Yuncker teaches English to seniors, juniors, and seventh graders. Jean Ann Thompson assists Mr. Troth with his new duty as attendance supervisor. Dur- ing the Asian Flu epidemic Mr. Troth was flooded with absentees. Once students, who were waiting to receive absence cards, form- ed a line from his office all the way down the hall past the main door to room ll6.

Mrs. Pollard, who is Coach Pollard's wife, keeps the school accounts balanced. Mrs. Mus- grave, who is a graduate of SHS, serves as Mr. Jordan's secretary and clerk for the School Board. Payroll for Speedway's employees is a big task tor her. Mrs. Hootman reminds Mr. Thompson of all the little things principals might forget. She also keeps each student's records up-to-date. Our nurse, Mrs. Beck, is always available to help those in distress, dressing cuts and wounds, putting dislocated bones in place, and cheering up each student who is ill, -1Q.

Mrs. Coppes, who teaches English and physical education, Mr. Frazier, who teaches biology and science, Mr. Jent, who teaches shop and history, and Mr. Pollard, who teaches safety, history, and physical educa- tion, were new to the faculty last year. -14-
