J n e m o JOSEF FASSBENDER Probably no person has contributed more to Spearfish High School since its origin, than did the man who took our pictures , better known to us as Joe . Since 1927 he served as the school photographer, taking all the class pictures, photos for the anniaal, and other miscellaneous snaps which will remain to us as cherished memories. His acquaintance with some of us began with our first baby picture, or maybe with our pre-school portrait. As time went by we became his frequent customers with various photos we took ourselves. Now, whenever we page back through our old yearbooks, or glance at our baby pictures or even view his magnificent still of the Shrine of Democracy hanging in the White House, we will always remember the small immigrant artist-photographer who was loved by all, and known to us as Joe, the man who took our pictures.

e d I c a t i o ROGER DA VIES Dear Mr. Davies, During the course of our high school days many faces and many personalities have left their imprint on our lives. An-iong these is one whom we shall remember because of his willingness to lend a helping hand even to the point of personal sacrifice. Whether it was a broken test tube, an experiment which backfired or a prom failure, your kind, patient instruction was never disheartening. Your sense of humor, your kindness, your adherence to fair play and the recogni- tion of our efforts are attributes of your character which we shall long remember. An eagerness to build and maintain high standards in your classroom have been an inspiration to us. To you, Roger Davies, in remembrance of your guidance and friendship and the many hours you so unselfishly gave, we dedicate this the 1958 Spartan. SPARTAN STAFF
