The 1957-58 Spartans began by capturing first place honors at the Sturgis Toumament--then went on to take second place in the conference with a 16 win 5 loss record. Going into the Section VIII tourney, the cagers romped over Lemmon, and later beat Lead in an over- time to win the championship and a berth at the State A Basketball Tournament, where they finished seventh.
