Student Council In 1955—56 the local student council had many moments to remember. Jim Johnson, president of the SHS Council, was president, and Joy Chris censen was secretary of the South Dakota Association of High School Student Councils. Spearfish was host to the members of the West River District for the biennial convention. Shown preparing for the Con- vention are Dick Ellis, vice-presi- dent; Noel Wallace, advisor; Jim Johnson, president; Ann Hurtt, secretary- treasurer. Homecoming is dear to all hearts, and is the re- sponsibility of the Student Council. Decorating the Queen ' s Heart are Dick Ter mes, Gary Miller, Karen Gregson, and LaVon Cundy, The Student Council shows Christmas Spirit as David Whitlock, Larry Bell, Mary Kay Hanson, and Joy Christensen prepare to dec- orate the trees in the hall and auditorium. Mike Butterfield, Joan Calvert, and Steve PoUey are working on favors for the Honor Banquet, which is an annual spring time affair sponsored by the Student Council. —24—
