HOMECOMING 67 69 70 The 5th day of November 1978 was clear and cold when the junior and senior girls of Spaulding High School met for the 3rd successive year on Pendo Field for the girls Powder Puff football game. Both teams had been practicing for weeks; after school, at night, and on weekends. With each passing day a feeling had been welling up inside each of the players. For the juniors, it was a crazed, inevitable feeling of victory — they lusted for it, lived for it, were sure of its arrival. The seniors, though had seen what had happened the previous year when they were juniors and had surprised everyone including themselves by blowing the over- confident seniors out of the game. This year they weren't counting on anything. They possessed a solid determination to give it all they had, to try their best to win for the 2nd year. So, as the day arrived there was no feeling of goodwill between the teams. No, one might say they may well have been going into battle. By the time the stands started filling, both teams had been practicing for over an hour. The juniors, in blue shirts, eyes smeared black, glared at the seniors and the seniors, dressed in red, silently glared back. When 1:30 approached, co-captains from both teams met on the field with official, Mr. David Lamarre, in order to determine who would receive. The juniors received and the 1st quarter was off to a quick start as they were to gain yardage with the speed of Tammy Rugo. The seniors, completely surprised at the junior's aggressiveness, did not recover from their shock in time to prevent a touchdown by junior Mary Jane Wobby. The score was increased 8—0 when a 2 point conversion was made. The 2nd quarter passed with the ball alternating between the two offenses, but although some yardage was gained, no further touchdowns were scored by either team. And so the score remained 8—0 at the end of the 1st half, in favor of the fiery-eyed juniors. During halftime the juniors with their coaches Jimmy Free and Marc Goudreau were so estatic with their lead that they invisioned an easy victory. On the other hand, lead coaches Stuart White, Roger Taplin, David Lesslie, and Richard Parnigoni were giving their senior crew a pep talk. The senior girls were concerned by the 8 point lead the juniors had taken, however, they were determined to work harder in the second half. At the start of the second half, the seniors did indeed work as a team and scored, but the touchdown was called back because of a holding penalty. The next touchdown did count as senior Melissa Day swept the right end for long yardage resulting in a touchdown. Unable to gain the extra 2 points, the score remained 8—6, with the seniors waiting impatiently to get the ball back. Senior quarterback Mary Jean Harris decided to try a quarterback sneak and gained a 1st down within striking distance of the goal line. With a pitch out to Melissa Day, she was off and running for her second touchdown. With good blocking by Sharon Crawford, the score was increased 14—8 when senior Mary Jean Harris ran for the extra 2 points. In the last quarter, numerous penalties were called on both teams, including five consecutive ones on the senior front line for offsides. Though frequently penalized, the seniors again managed to score, this time using former defenseman Martina Pouliot as an offensive back. Thus, the game ended with a score of 20—8, the juniors victorious last year came on strong to win as seniors. Perhaps the class of 80 will have better luck next year — Mary Jean Harris 71 Debl Adama Stavan Aja Jamaa Andarion Jamaa Audy Chria Axten Tami Baldwin Karan Barbari Cynthia Baan Ann Baaudin Marc Baaudin Llaa Baaudoln Loula Bagin Stavan Ball Craig Balvilla Gina Banadlnl Stava Banolt Gary Bergeron Jan Barnaaconl Jon Bllodaau Grag Blake Doug Blanchard Chriatina Blodgett Grant Blow Gragg Blow Penny Bolavart Grag Bolduc Joyce Bollo Linda Boltea Donna Booth Bob Braun 72 Gary Brault Valerie Brault Mark Browning Robert Brueettl Lori Buck Kay Bullard Laa Ann Bullla Bruca Buntln Sandra Butler Eric Butterfield Brant Bylow Jean Calcagnl Richard Canaa Lori Ann Candage Karan Cayla Mark Cayla Ranaa Chapin Kan Charbonnaau Dabble Chaaa Kim Chaaa Janlca Choulnard Jeanlne Choulnard Llaa Choulnard Ronald Chrlatla Tom Chrlatla Greg Clam pi Sandl C tempi Connie Claflln Cindy Clark Gary Clark 73 Tad Cochran Marnla Collins Gall Compo John Conti Bob Copaland Charyl Coray Malania Corrlvaau M ichasl Corson Thomas Couturs Arthur Coyar Stavan Cross Lori Currlar Jsanna Cusson Karan Cyr Tins Davis Diana Dackar Mika Dsssursat Mary Donald Lois Donovan Lois Ducharma Clairs Dufrasns Gary Duka Randy Dukatta Tina Dunham Karan Dunn Andraa Duprsy John Edson Vicky Farnham Danial Favraau Robart Farrar! 74 Chris FIs Id Brian Fitzgerald Mark Flint Laurla Flood Diana Ford Robin Ford W ayns Fournier Ellen Fraser James Fres Nancy Fumtgalll Brian Gagne Cheryl Gagne Annette Gagnon Ronald Gagnon Lies Gatfettl Danny Garr Lsanne Gaylord Ralph Garrlsh Crystal Gibbs Ronald Gibbs Deborah Glllis Chris Gingras Robert Gingras Susan Giroux An ha Gomez Robert Goodrich Lori Gosselln Marc Goudreau Laurie Goulet Gary Goulette 75 Laurie Grant Kelly Gregolre Marc Gregolre Kim Gregory Linda Grenier Brent Griffin Elaine Griffith Scott Griggs Victor Guyette Andrew Hallock Paula Harrington Earl Hatch Debra Heath Robin Heath Greg Hebert Randy Henry Stephen Henry Todd Hanes Donna Hswett Pamela Hlslop Linda Holt Harold Hood Rhonda Hood Lori Hoskins John Howard Christine Hrubovcek W endy Hutchins Mark Hutchinson Plerette Isabelle Mark Izor 76 Mark Jacques Valeria Jacques Michael Jalbert Roseanne Jenkins Sue Jewett Betsy Jonas Sharon Kane Danny Kennell Pat Karin David Klttredge Malania Labor Brian LaCass Bernle La|eunesse Terry Lambert Kevin Lanphar Andy LaPerle Louisa LaParla Nancy LaParla Mika Laramie David LaRouch Trade Lawllss Dabble LaBlanc Marcia LaBlanc Jodi LeClalr Claude Laclerc Mark Laclerc Kathy Lee S cott LeFevre Donald Lasure Donna Lewis 77 Sue Loatl Shannon Lonergan Ann Lorenzlnl Leslie Lucchlna Calvin Lyford Davkl Maglnnls Brian Martel Pater Martin Lellonnie Matson Arthur Meurlce Celine Meurlce Kathy McKay Elizabeth McKaon Lisa McLaughlin Raymond McNaulty Bob Messier Dominic Mitchell Cindy Moeykens Gall Monahan Melanie Monty Melisse Moran Wendy Mores Sheila Morway Brat Mugford Craig Mugford Nancy Normandaau Scott Norway Marcia Nutbrown Kelly O'Meara Molly Ordwey 78 I Brad Ormiby Michael Otis Gall Oualatta Paulina Oualatta Kim Pallas Ragan Paquat David Parks Robart Parnlgonl Jaff Parry Jaka Paton Todd Paton Rally Padussl Mika Paduzzl Carolyn Pslkay Laurie Paolquln John Papin Joanna Parkins Tim Parussa Elaanor Psrraauh Lisa Parraault Daan Parsons Jamas Plsrca Frank Plnard Cathy Phtslay Valeria Polriar Brands Quinlan Ross Rackllff Ray Rancourt Mary Rallly Brigitte Riandaau 79 John Rivard Nan Rivard Kan Roblnaon Scott Rogers Donald Routhler Ann Roy Janie Roy Joann M. It's hard to believe that such a monumental sound could come from the tiny George Spelvin, but he gave it his all as did the entire cast of the Class of 79 Senior Play 'The Mouse That Roared. On the nights of November 20 and 21, audiences totalling more than 750 were treated to one of the most enchanting productions to ever hit the S.H.S. stage. The overall production ran smoothly under the direction of Mrs. Ilene Sinclair, but like every theatrical endeavor, there were a few frantic, final rehearsals where many rough edges had to be smoothed over. Who will ever forget the tickets and progams that never came, and never came, or the disappearing swords and shields. Oh By the way, Where were your shoes?! T.T.? What about those invisable platforms in the last scene P.S. and L.B.? Despite all of the chaos, the performances were fabulous and to celebrate their success, a cast party was held at Ed's Garage! Regardless of the difficult directions to the party, our two wacs made it! Anyone ready for another thrilling game of categories? How about a few more weights G.L.? Overall, every one had a great time, and if given the right incentive may give a command performance —Senior Weekend?! 104 Shan Abar Sua Alexander Scott Andaraon Nancy Applegate Theresa Bach Fanny Ballay Bonnla Batchelder W ayna Baan Stephen Baade Donald Bellavanc Thomas Ball John Barard Deborah Barnaaconl Taml Binaghl Margie Blake Mika Blouln Becky Bolles JoAnn Bonin Gllles Boudraault Lori Booth Louis Boutin Rhonda Boyca Lynda Brault Cassia Bresett Christina Bresett Dabble Bresett Tim Bresett Scott Brlmblecombe Juanita Brogglnl Cheryl Brooks 106 Francis Brooks Brands Brown Eddie Brown Kevin Browning Steven Bullard Tim Busby Norman Buaqua Rsbacca Butlas Steven Butler Barbara Buzzl Craig Carpenter Nick Cassanl Cheryl Cattelona JoAnn Chaloux Qary Champy Marianna Charrler Russell Chase Charles Chatot Brenda Choulnerd Mark Clough Donna Cloutier Annette Comolll Debra Corey Tamyra Corliss Jim Corning Greg Corrigan Arthur Corrtveau Fred Coetsntlnl Yvan Cote Kim Cotnolr 107 Todd Coulllard Llano Couturo Dobbla Cro wnln gehled Doug Davenport Donna Davit G all daBaaumont Carol Decker Brian Daran Janat Datllatt Janice Daallata Robert Datllatt Sue Datmaralt Joey Datturaau Debra Diego Lucretia Dodge Bill Dudley Chrte Duff Jim Dugan Paula Dunham Jeff Dunn Joey Edton Mark Eltanwinter Brian Elmar David Emarton Steven Emo Pat Foran Guy Fortier Lori Fortier Michael Fortin Michele Fournier 108 Carol Favraau Jana Funk Sharon Farr Scott Frasar Carl Fadartco Charyl Falch David Ftah Scott Fltta Mlckay Fiorucci Colatta Gagnon Bath Qallaghar Laura G a III Mlchaal Gallo Frank Gattona Mlchaal Gay Dannia Gaaka Paula Gaaka Wandy Glacharlo M Ika G Ingraa Dannia Gonyaw Chria G oodnow Kannath Goodrich Dantoa Goulat Edward Goyatta Joan Goyatta Lynatta Grandbola Colleen Gray Scott Gray Jimmy Graan Julia Gragolra 109 Layne Qragolre Tim Qranon William Griffith Mark Grolaau Panny Hamilton Kim MamNn Maryanna Harding Jannlfar Harrington Colin Harvay Tarry Habart Brian Hill Staphanla Hoag Chrla Hoch W llllam Hodge Patricia Hooand Gail Hula Carolyn Hoyt Brian Hutchins Bruca Hutchins Tim Hutchins Mark Hutchinson Lisa Jacquas Glssla Jalbert PaulJaan Tim Jannass Dawn Janklns Julia Johnson Robin Johnson Richard Johnson Chris Judd 110 Jody Karnedy Robert Kerr Michelle Lebbe Bruno LeCroix Joe LeCroee Lori Lefrenler Jeff Lempheer Kethy Lempheer Cynthia Larkin Pet Lerock Lillian Laundry Sylvia Lavallier Debbie Levigne Timmy Lavigne Llee LeClair Cathy Long Deborah Longo Grieel Lopez— Eecobar Robin Lord Mary Lorenzinl Sandra Luther David Lyona Todd MacDuff Jlni Machall Juanita Magoon John MacKanzie Marcia Marah Todd Martel Brett Martin Cheryl Martino 111 Jtannt Matt Jamil Mauric Louisa McLam Bruca McLaughlin Lori McPharaon Donna Mlana Sua Mlalnlczuk Veronica Millar Sara Moayklns Danial Mollnd JoAnna Monty Alan Monty M Ichalina Monty Judy Morala Danny Morrison Kathy Nalson Staphsn Nalson Patrick Nawrton Ksvln Normandaau Sandra Olsan Stava Osborna Gaorga Otis Charlas Palmlsano Marco Parant Raymond Parlzo Malania Patch Dabbla Pacor Bradlay Pallon Mary Paloquln Scott Papin 112 •'l ' Christina Psrrsault Juatln PerreauK Kavln Perreault Krlaai Parraauh Julia Parry Jaff Plaraon Joanna Plnard Suian Phtalay Dianna Planta Lianna Planta 8onla Plumb Bob Pomar Marla Potvln TNna Poulin Marlyna Poullot Ruaaall Pratt Martin Pravoat Martha Rackllff Ranatta Richard Carman Rlsndaau Janny Rivard Lori Rhrars Shir lay Robblna Jaff Robarta Tammy Roblnaon Jaff Rogara Batay Rohrar Franco Roaal Mark Roy Shawn Rugo 113 M Ike Russo Mark Sanborn Harold Santamora Charyl Saal Stavan Sstlsn Tarry Satlan Lars Savaranca Arthur Shannon Gloria Shlrlock Rogsr Slcaly Andy Smith Joy Solomon Slavs Spear Randy Stewart Todd Sutton Lisa Sweat Linda Sykas Ashlay Talmadge Brunelll Tadaschl Julia Tldd Mark Thlbault Alan Thompson Tarry Thygasan Tom Thygasan Tony Totanl Michele Trapanlar Tammy Trombley Leslie Turcotte Debra Tyler Clam Valllancourt 114 Bonnlt W ignir Gall W a lb ridge Gordy W elch Jean W eat W aKtr W hapies Jay Whitt Deklra W hltcomb Dari W hltehouaa Bath W llllama Maureen W lllette Mark Williams Michael W Idle ms Den W obby Laurie Wright Linda W right CHORUS Front: Kathy LeBlanc, Ruth Thomas, Penny Bailey. The staff worked after school and even during vacations when Mr. Freeman would bring in Dunkin Donuts'' for us all to munch on! We owe our gratitude to Mr. Freeman for helping us through thick and thin, considering we knew very little about putting together a yearbook when we started. Working on Our Echo together was an experience none of us will forget. Special thanks go to Mr. Skillin for handling all the money aspects of the book. Under his guidance, students solicited financial support from local businesses; without this support Our Echo would not have been possible! Long live our supporters!
