OUR ECHO SPAULDING HIGH SCHOOL BARRE, VERMONT 2 4 Do you remember that first day of kindergarten? We probably wore our best clothes thinking we were pretty hot stuff. What about playing house, finger painting, and, of course, playing with the blocks ? Then, 0 7, 70 w atoc ? older we felt when we carried our first big black pencil home from first grade! And how could we forget that box of crayons. We entered second grade, and started having our first quizzes. So that's where they started all that nonsense! Third grade, and most of us were still hanging in there, just barely but we were there. Isn't that when we got the brainy idea about getting friendly with the smart students that sat next to us?! Quizzes always seemed a little easier if we did. Dick and Jane up in a tree, K-l-S-S - -A -G . Sound familiar? That started about fourth grade, didn't it? Then we were big fifth graders, and then on to graded school! There was the first school dance, boys started looking at girls and the eyes looked the other way also. We had our first basketball teams, and thought we had all kinds of opportunities! At last it was time for eighth grade graduation. The guys reluctantly took off their jeans, and the girls even put on dresses! Wow! Look how far we'd come! High school days began. Weren't you nervous?! Being itty bitty freshmen wasn't glorious, but we stuck it through and now we're the mighty mighty seniors. Hip! Hip! Hooray! How can we list all the joys and disappointments that have filled our last four years? Sitting on the radiators, skipping classes, that was fun, but... Let's just look for a minute at some other activities. Remember freshman orientation, slave day, 50's day, our junior prom, senior class play, and our senior formal? Then there were sport, drama, and music activities. Donkey basketball, fun night... It has all been gresa all been great, and know none of us would have missed it for the world. Now we're entering into a whole new realm of opportunities all the more ready to meet the challenge they bring because of our last four years. The class of 1977 of Spaulding High School will live on in our memories forever. 6 7 8 9 10 To The Seniors Class of 77, well its time for us to go. The last of four now over, four years for us to know. To know of our achievments, some good although some bad. To remember all our times together, some happy although some sad. We look upon graduation, as our chance to at last be free. Free from what?, but our hundreds of friends here, that again we may never see. So when the time has come for us, to hang our heads up high. You had better be glad, of these four years that you‘ve had. And to be a graduate of Spaulding High. John Leonard ‘77 11 12 13 14 ★★★★★★★★★★★ ♦ Barre Junior Miss On a chilly Sunday afternoon in November, the Barre Jaycees held their annual Barre Junior Miss pageant. The six participants in the program were Jeannine Brault, Lucinda Buck, Lori Giaf, Leslie Jorganson. Grevlin Liese, and Patti Scrizzi. Each contestant made a talent presentation, had an interview with the judges, and took part in a formal judge s tea. The first prize of $100.00 was awarded to Barre's Junior Miss of 1976, Patti Scrizzi, and a $25.00 prize was presented to Jeannine Brault, the first runner-up. ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ IS 'Christmas Eve’ Fallen snow lay on tha ground And Christmas now in sight. A sleigh ride bringing joy to many In a country side of white. Flying, singing, laughing, bringing Gifts to every door. The time again for old Saint Nick To make children smile once more. Christmas Eve, they're all asleep To wake up bright and early. To see what's under the tree. Something big, even small, maybe furry. No sign of Scrooge and what a relief, I hope he doesn't miss us. The Crimson Tide ended its Autumn play with an over all record of two wins, eleven losses. Starting off with several scrimmage victories. The tide's aggresive play seemed to sputter as one goal margin losses to Lake-Region and Harwood took its toll on the middle stretch drive. Nonetheless, each varsity player did a fine job, contributing his share to the team's effort, always staying in there. Especially the Northfield game - remember team? Playing for Spaulding's Crimson Tide their last year were Mark Lorenzini, Jay Guinard, Brian Gingras, Chuck Finn, Donald Harding, and Jay Berasconi. The team will miss their fine hustle and aggresive offensive and defensive play. Good luck Boys! The game proved to be ex- citing too, as it was tied after regulation and sent into sudden death overtime. Cindy Barnhart was then pushed over the goal line, giveing the seniors a 14-8 victory. It was a game that will be remem- bered by all. 112 Kneeling- Coach Atkins, Deveney Stone, Karen LaGue, Dianne Murray, Kim Thygesen Standing- Ann Pelkey, Paula McLaughin, Andrea Violetta, Lori Abbiati, Mary Ambrosini, Grace Kelly 115 First Row Debbie Royce. elly Goodnow, Mary Jana Kelly.
