On November 2, 1962, the city of Barre voted for a new high school. Taking a great part in the cam- paign for the new school was the School Study Com- mittee which worked for months trying to show the citizens that we had to have a new school. The proposed new school will be divided into subject areas such as mathematics, languages, and bus- iness training on two floors, and with a basement for janitors’ storage and the boiler room. The main offices will probably consist of offices for the principal and the assistant principal, storage, the general office, and a consultation room. Everything will be much easier because of the additional space and modern conditions. Also the school will be in one location instead of the present two. The Vocational School will be completely acces- sible, with rooms for such subjects as memorial arts, shop, and auto mechanics in the school building. Extra curricular activities, including sports and music, will have their home in a gym where the home games may be played, and a hall where concerts and plays may be given. Outside the building will be a football field, a baseball park, and a track. With the promise this new school holds, we know the education of Barre’s students in the future will be assured.
