We entered as freshmen in September of 1958 ee to see what high school had in store for us. ''n Saturday, September 20, 1958, most of the fresuv.an class was present at the Freshman Recep- tion given in our honor by the Student Council. This was the dance when we first experienced a receiving line. The freshman class sponsored a record hop and sold more tickets than any other Spaulding organiza- tion had done before. Our freshman class officers were: President—Billy Rossi Vice-President— Layne Higgs Secretary—AAichaI Barquin Treasurer—Sanford Johnson In June we donned our class colors of gold and red commonly known as mustard and ketchup. Our freshman class play was a huge success. First as Frosh, Then as Sophomores The ring we now wear proudly. In September, 1959, 138 sophomores entered the halls of Spaulding, feeling a little more important than the year before. This year our class officers were Sanford John- son, president; Judy Coxon, vice-president; Margaret Gehlbach, secretary; and Layne Higgs, treasurer. In September we voted for our class rings. A committee was made up of the home room presi- dents who chose the design for the rings which we received a few days before Christmas. Our Sophomore Hop was held on October 30. Over 200 people danced to the music of the Hi Lites at the auditorium, which was decorated appro- priately for our theme, Shine On Harvest Moon. Our entry in the annual one-act play contest was A Cup of Kindness. Six of our classmates ap- peared in this production. 14
