Thoughts go hack to 1946 ancl our llirst Clays as lreshmen. Back then. we were all pretty new at this husiness of heing high school stuclents ancl lor the most part sat hack in awe ancl wonder- ment. gazing at all the things that went on arouncl us. For the most part we just watched the upper- classmen shine. Our loothall team was great in the lall ol '46 with Coach Gilhert Cox at the helm. Alhert uReclH Patterson was President ol the Stuclent Bocly ancl aclclecl much color to the olilicial rohes of that otlzice. Alter loothall came haskethall along with talk ol annuals, school papers. gym circuses. ancl one hunclrecl thousancl other things. or so it seemecl. Before long the '46-Q-ll' school term was over. The 'JI-'-IS year came ancl went. ancl Council Pre-xy Pat Feclerline vinclicatecl the juclgment ol those who hacl electecl her hy proving that a woman can make goocl. Some ol our numher were alreacly making a place lor themselves. The names ol Fine, Hammitt. ancl Lee appeared on the sports pages cluring the Fall. ancl as Xvinter came, ancl Spring lollowetl Xyinter. more ancl more ol the class ol 'Stl gainecl recognition in the school. Xve were heginning to come into our own. 'llowarcls the close ol the year several sophomores were eleeteil to holtl olllices in the schoolls cluhs anal extra-turrieular activities lor the lollowing year.
