foreword It has been said that one o The basic idea in planning the B a good book with anticipation and closes it with profit. OG has been the creation of a book that will meet these requirements. We, the-annual staff, are proud to present to you our final pride and joy—the 1967 BULLDOG. We hope when you open this treasure chest, you will find the key that will unlock the riches of the past year. We have worked this year with one goal in mind, to turn out the best BULLDOG pos- sible.” As editor this year, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who worked so long and hard to make this book a reality. It is impossible in this limited space to enumerate each; however, I shall single out a few. Many thanks are due the faithful staff and the Maybell-Richell photographers. But my most special thanks go to Mr. Ed Simpson and Mr. Jerry Wilson, our loyal and patient advisors. To many Sparta High School students, the BULLDOG is something mentioned when pictures of organizations and classes are taken and then forgotten until in the spring it bursts clean-covered upon them. The hundreds of pictures and thousands of words of copy are, to most students, a real but commonplace miracle. From time to time, we have all kept scrap books, diaries, or some form of mementos. A yearbook serves the same purpose as these. Each helps recall the past. This year’s BULLDOG was designed with this thought in mind. We have attempted, in a small way, to record the past year at S.H.S. A yearbook can be considered a mirror of the school it represents. I hope only that the image we have produced is a clear one and successfully portrays S.H.S. This year was basically the same as any other high school year; we studied, had fun, experienced sad moments of trial and error. There were games and dances. There were brief moments of glory for some in sports, musical and dramatic productions. All shared the inevitables—examinations and deadlines, the semester grades, the noontime cafeteria rush. These impressions are only a few that were packed into this full year. In years to come, if this book reminds you of some of the personal incidents and of the wonderful friendships and experiences that make high school the rewarding time it is, we shall be content, knowing we have fulfilled our purpose.
