In Memoriam ANTHONY HENTZ Industrial Arts in S. T. H. S. 1951 - 1957 We shall always remember his smile, his will to work, and his courage. His interest in boys was evident in his guidance of their talents to high standards of achievement. He liked to work with his hands, doing all manual activity, with an attention to detail which resulted in a superior production. We, the students of Sparta Township High School, are grateful for his willingness to show in the service what we are striving to learn. We pay tribute to him as a fine teacher, and a worthy citizen of our democracy. Board Education Left to right: Mr. A1 Michael Young, Mr. Glenn Coffee, Mr. Willard Stevenson, Dr. Curtis L. Trainer, Principal; Mr. James A. Birchler, Assistant Principal; Mr. Austin Cairns, President of the Board; Rev. Robert Stewart, Secretary of the Board; Mr. Arthur Weber, Mr. Lawrence Reid, Mr. Lawell McCree. Our Principal To the Seniors: It is your good fortune to have been born in a free society. Living in a free society is not only a privilege but also a responsibility. With the march of time our free society has become complex and much involved. Thus, it presents a problem to modern day youth, since they must adjust to live in this society. This defines the objective of modem educational institutions—to help you and others like you to understand and solve the problems connected with living in a free society and to define your respon- sibilities to it. To make your problem more involved, you live in a chaotic world in which our way of life is fraught with challenge. To meet this challenge, change is inevitable. You must therefore be equipped to meet change. With knowledge you have the means of interpreting and predicting change- determining values. Seniors, one of the objectives of this high school has been to equip you with a set of values—a back- ground for living in the present plus the means for selecting goals which will make your life worthwhile. Further, it is your responsibility to help to preserve freedom for your generation and posterity. In exercising this responsibility, you will not only be working as an individual but as a part of a vast multitude upon whose side is not only might but right. May your lives be such a part of the organization of free men that the world will be always free and that this nation shall not perish from the earth. Curtis L.
