In 1949 a new group of students entered the Sparta Township High School. They are now the graduating class of 1953. In the past four years this class has succeeded in doing several outstanding feats which will remain in the minds of the students for a long time. During the Freshman year Miss Wandene Jackson was crowned Football Queen of 1949. This was the first time a freshman candidate had ever become the football queen. The Junior Tournament basketball team won the traveling trophy for the third consecutive time which enabled us to keep it. Our Sophomore year passed unevenuully. The third year the class attended Sparta High School, the foremost accomplishments were the Junior Play, Strictly Formal and the Junior-Senior Prom, The Gay Nineties. The final year in school was climaxed with the publishing of an annual, The Bulldog. This was considered the greatest achievement of the class. The class members hope that all the future graduating classes of S T. H. S. will value and appreciate the education and extra-curricular activities as much as we, the Class of 1953.
