Seated: Mr. Fred Rotrammel, President; Rev. Robert Stewart, Secretary. M To The Students: The primary purpose of education is to develop a well-rounded individual capable of taking a useful part in the economic, social, civic and poli- tical life of our times. It is to that end that the curriculum and extra-curricular activities of our school have been shaped. I hope that your years here have been successful in accomplishing this purpose. To a large extent our school and you students represent the final product of the hopes, plans, and dreams of Mr. Torrence. A fine administrator, an outstanding teacher, and a wise counsellor, he put the welfare of the in- dividual student foremost in all his plans. It is my hope, that as you go on in life, you will appreciate more and more the training and example which he gave you. John R. Warren, Principal FRANK C. In the past four years this class has succeeded in doing several outstanding feats which will remain in the minds of the students for a long time. During the Freshman year Miss Wandene Jackson was crowned Football Queen of 1949. This was the first time a freshman candidate had ever become the football queen. The Junior Tournament basketball team won the traveling trophy for the third consecutive time which enabled us to keep it. Our Sophomore year passed unevenuully. The third year the class attended Sparta High School, the foremost accomplishments were the Junior Play, Strictly Formal and the Junior-Senior Prom, The Gay Nineties. The final year in school was climaxed with the publishing of an annual, The Bulldog. This was considered the greatest achievement of the class. The class members hope that all the future graduating classes of S T. H. S. will value and appreciate the education and extra-curricular activities as much as we, the Class of 1953. The guests were served by members of the Sophomore Class who entertained the guests after the banquet. The gym was a garden in the moonlight outside of an inn. There were tables covered with large, red-checked tablecloths around the inn. Punch was served to the guests as they sat at the tables.
