iluna-germ. P1-an-.1--Q W ALMA MATER Our strong ties cannot be broken, Formed in Sparta-High, Far surpassing wealth unspoken, Sealed by friendship's ties. CHORUS: Hail to Sparta, Alma Mater, Tender, fair and true, Grateful we with love unfailing, All our vows renew. All the days we've been together, Fondly we recall, Days of fair and stormy weather, Thou has gladdened all. Years may dim our recollection, Time its change may bring, Still thy name in fond affection, Evermore we sing. 2 I ME ORIAM MRS. DOROTHY SARGENT Was a loved and dear friend to us all, who served our school faithfully and uncom- plainingly through the years. Her memo- ry will be treasured by each and every one of us. Devoted to enriching the run-of-the-mill schoolday, the '65 Seniors have proven themselves to be a happy medium between scholarly seriousness and healthy American frivolity. This class has repeatedly struck out on untried trails to gain experience through self- contrived methods. Although these seniors have made many unprecedented accomplishments, they will be the first to admit that they have also committed their share of misdemeanors, usu- ally conduct, which they were chastised for. The Class of '65 embarked on their merry way through Senior High School when they entered 10th grade in the fall of the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-two. They wasted no time in erecting their pie and cake stand which was a grand success despite its crude- ness. Our selection for fair queen that year was the very honorable Miss Leslie Jane Winans, who made ye ol' college try, but . . . Enter our illustrious Junior year. The ravishing Miss Linda Lou Minnick was bestowed with the honor of becoming the Class of '65's Junior year queen candidate. Due to the incentive of these enterprising entrepreneurs, they had two successful stands. One, a flourishing Pronto Pup stand, the second, a money making car smashing, fthank you Mark Crosbyj. During the first week of October they received their coveted class rings, which enhanced their pride but emaci- ated their capital. As Juniors, the Class of '65 presented You Can't Kiss Caroline , which was standing room only. After a summer of working and playing qmostly playingj, the doors of Sparta High once again opened, signifying the last year of high school for the Class of '65, Declaring open season on money making, the '65 Seniors rose to meet the challenge of obtaining funds for their spring excursion to New York City and the World's Fair. The Sparty Fair provided the initial opportunity for monetary advancement of their concluding high school year. At the Fair the Seniors opened their dining hall in one of the less muddy corners of the fairgrounds. The Senior Chow Palace was certainly not the first of these culinary establishments, but it was the first to add a dash of dignity to their menu by featuring T-Bone steaks, another innovation conceived by the Spartans- burg Sixty-fivers. The dazzling Leslie Jane topped off the '65 Senior Sparta Fair accomplish- ments by bringing to Mr. Peter Allegretto's 12th grade homeroom the Crown of the Fair Queen. Next on the pecuniary agenda was the premiere of Girl Crazy , the Class of '65's Senior Play. This colossal production, brilliantly performed by these talented stars of stage, screen, and television was proclaimed the best ever witnessed in the Sparta Auditorium. Any dissenters who contest the validity of the preceeding statement should merely ask any member of the Class of '65 and he will reassure you. Amongst various other merchandising enterprises undertaken by the 65ers was the introduc- tion of SPARTANS automobile license plates to the markets of the local hamlet. ' Due to circumstances beyond the control of the authors of this unbiased outline, we must immediately cease writing about how good the class of '65 is qmainly because these pages cost money and we ain't allowed to go on to the next page.j Besides, going on to the next page would disrupt the Senior Lowdown.
