The fall of '56 brought about our final year at Sparta. We look back on our four years at Sparta High with fond memories of our fellow classmates, underclassmen, alumni, and teachers. The year of 1953 began our first year at Sparta High with an enrollment of 145 freshmen. To represent our class we chose the following officers: presi- dent, Bob Spinkg vice president, Holly Frye: secretary, Pat Solversong and treasurer, Paul Paden. Carol Webster and Robert Oswald were our Student Council representatives. Then the fall of '54 arrived and we were sophomores. We chose Holly Frye as our president: Dick Trainer, vice presidentg Tom Nichols, treasurer, and Diane Olson, secretary. We had many students representing us in band, chorus, sports, and other organizations. Our Junior year brought about our most exciting year. Our class president was Dale Harrie, vice president, Pat Solversong treasurer, Betty Jenkinsg and secretary, Marilyn Wegner. Our Student Council representatives were Reta I-leyming and Nerine Siekert. The first big event was Homecoming. Carol Webster and Annette Johnson were chosen as queen attendants. At Christmas time we donated Christmas toys and decorations to make a rnerrier Christmas for some needy children in Sparta. Chosen as Girl's State representative was Nerine Siekert. Boy's State .representatives were Dan Mannis, Robert Oswald, and Dale Harrie. On May 18, we sponsored one of the most beautiful proms Sparta High has ever had, with Dale Harrie and Phyllis Davis reigning as King and Queen. Our theme was Cinderella 's Ball . Beautiful decorations made up the ball room. Larry Woodbury furnished the music. Our class gave the school three cheerleaders two of whom served two years. They were, Betty Jenkins, and Roxeen Schroeder. Diane Radde served one year. 5 For our Senior year we chose the following officers: Dale Harrie, presi- dents Robert Oswald, vice presidentg Carolyn Hedrick, secretary, and Wayne Wegner, Ueasurer. Our Student Council representatives were Mary Jacobsen, Pat Solverson, Tom Nichols, Gary Beecher, Bob Spink, and Dick Trainer. Ruth Simonson reigned as our Homecoming Queen. Our class play, DEAR RUTH, under the direction of Mr. Mont Marquette was also a huge success. The announcement of awards brought about our final school day at Sparta High. We shall always have happy memories of our school days here. Our motto was, There is a destiny that makes us brothers: no one goes his way alone. Our colors were blue and white and we had blue and white carnations. Thank you Sparta High from the Class of '5'7. 24 N I' . in, QM, W 'fr 'T JN Robert Oswald Holly Frye Patricia Solverson Boy's State Valedictorian Homemaker Award l few 1 e ,Jw e Daniel Mannis Dale Harrie Boy's State Boy's State, Athletics Award Q Arm' 'N A N -5 i YW 5 Nerine Siekert Mary Jacobsen Paul Ebert Gir1's State, D.A.R.
