BRUCE The resignation of Mr. Bruce as Superintendent of the Sparta school system, 'a position which he has held for the past nineteen years, brought a feeling of re- gret to the students of Sparta High. His initiative and activity had become so much a part of the school life, that he has served as a fine example of education- al ability and leadership to the students. Mr. Bruce graduated from Appleton High School in 1911 and from Lawrence College in 1915. He also did post graduate work and in 1926 received his Mas- ter's degree in Education at the University of Wisconsin. During World War I he was a sergeant in the 32nd division stationed in Europe. Mr. jBruce has held many offices in educational and civic organizations. Since 1946 he has been a member of the Board of Control of the Wisconsin Inter-schol- astic 'Athletic Association. Several honorary educational memberships have been bestowed upon him.
