Foreword Om' school with its friendly walls holds fond memories of happy hours, cherished friendships, serious endeavor and lasting achievement. We, the last class to graduate hom the old building, are happy to com- plete our courses within these walls where we entered four years ago, for there is a spirit and a tradition that lingers and permeates each nook and comer. We feel that we have helped to establish mme firmly everything for which our school stands. We hope that the highest traditions of all the schools will become the common heritage of the new one. It is with this fhought that we give to you, our successors, the passport to the future.

The dedication of this Annual is of unique significance. This, the thirty-Silfth edition of the Spartan , pays tribute to an educator who has devoted thirty-six years to the cause of public education and to the education of thousands of school children in the state of Michigan To have spent thirty-six years in this profession, first as a high school principal and then as a superinten- dent, and to have served well in this capacity, requires a person of integrity, of loyalty, and of devotion. Mr. Del-Iart has impressed those whom he has served as a man of these qualities. Mr. DeHart, we, the graduating class of 1959, consider it a privilege to dedicate this, the thirty-sixth Spartan Annual to you, our friend and educator upon the completion of this, your thirty-sixth year of profes- sional service to the public schools in Michigan.
