By tar, the greatest achievement of our student leaders this year however, was the organization of the P.A.C. CPoint- er Action Committeej. This was an or- ganization composed ot a cross section of students throughout the school who by their example and actions were to impress upon the student body in gen- eral the necessity for exemplary behavior MONITOR STAFF well as the benefits to be derived from good school citizenship. We are in hopes that such ideal motives may al- ways tind champions in the persons of our students. Carol Bearry has the dis- tinction of having been the tirst chairman of such a group.

SECOND ROW: R. Rose, C. Rodgers, R. Keller, D. Giedosh, R. Fields. 20 The activities of the Student Govern- ment Association this year proved to be both worthwhile and novel. President, William Raukko, and advisor, Mr. Sakal- ski, worked very hard to make a success of the association, and succeeded in spite of the newness of their respective posi- tions. It is commendable that they sur- vived the many trials that beset the in- experienced, and the achievements of the association are largely due to their untiring efforts. In spite of a serious steel strike which would tend to hamper the sale of activity tickets, Linda Dorset and her committee tactfully pushed the sales drive in such a way as to make it much more of a success than had been predicted. Editorial Advisor Mr. Britvch Editor-in-Chief Frances Tomczewski Editorial Editor Virgina Howlett The slogan Of, By, and For the Students can best describe the purpose of our school newspaper, the Pointer. Under the leadership of Frances Tomciewski, and with the advice of sponsor, Mr. Britvch, the staff managed to pub- lish six issues this year. This was achieved in spite of financial difficulties due in part to a serious steel strike. The great cost of producing a publication of this sort is not readily known to most of the school population, but any serious thinking individual can easily see the advantages in the form of school spirit, valuable experience, and school pride to be gained by so worthwhile an endeavor. Frances' chief assistant this year was Virginia Howlett who gained much valuable experience in her position as editorial editor. This will en- able her to succeed Frances next year with some degree of confidence. Others assisting in this exacting work of publication were: Clara Eden- ton, Richard Moore, Carole Haag, Christine Cum- mins, and Cindy Godwin. l POINTER STAFF - STANDING, Left to Right: V. Howlett, C. Cummins, B. Karacoulakis, C. Haag, R. Moore. SEATED: C. Edenton, F. Tomczewski, C. Godwin.
