fi' CSXUUQIQX gwernzn en! 5 Soczafzon The Student Government The Student Government Association was originated in 1949 in order to give our student body experiences in democratic government Since then it has become the most important and active organization in our school e student body holds elections each year to determine the officers of the SGA By secret ballot each student is allowed to designate his choice for president vice president treasurer and secretary Each homeroom has a representative in th SGA It is the duty of this representative to report the activities of the SGA to his homeroom each week These representatives constitute the legislative body of the S G A They approve or defeat proposed legislation In this manner the SGA with faculty approval determines rules concerning the student body These rules are then enforced by the monitors thus achieving better coordination between the student body and the faculty staff This relieves the faculty staff of many burdens as the SGA actually controls the student body e president Nance Kelly was assisted this year by Francis Grymes Joyce Bost and Bonnie Reid They have worked very hard to make the SGA of 58 one of the best SGA s in the history of our school Among their achievements are the revision of the student court a change in the SGA dance regulations a Christmas party for the old peoples home and of the dances I Sponsor MR BENSON First row Margie Hart Pat Godwin Jo Ann Miskiman Pat Carolyn Snyder Ruth Ann Kirtinitis Peggy Corbin Norma Jewell.
