The Greenbrae Office of FNB serves the northeastern part of the City of Sparks from these quarters at 1962 Pyramid Way, in the Green- brae Shopping Center. Sparks High School graduate Ely Benedetti is assistant vice president and mana- ger of the Greenbrae Office, which opened in April l96l. Sparks was recognized as the City with Promise 40 years ago by First National Bank of Nevada, F01'ty ygafs which opened its Sparks Office on Jan. l, 1936, 0 . at 948 'B' Street. Now, FNB serves the residents gfowlng In Sparks of the community from three offices that nearly surround the city. for First National The Sparks Office itself has moved a block up the street to 1022 'B' and Sparks native John E. Uackj Wood, an assistant vice president of the bank, is branch manager Newest of F NBS three branches in Sparks is this sprawling McCarran Boulevard Office, at 400 N. McCarran, where it intersects with Lincoln Way. Cedar poles were unloaded from a nearby railroad line and floated downstream to the most convenient landings, where teams of horses took over to drag them into po- sition. In 1960 Sierra Pacific embarked on another era. By now power pro- duced from the Truckee was in- adequate to serve Western Nevada's increasing requirements. Sierra Pacific decided that the growing Truckee Meadows would be better served with its own gen- eration plants which would make Sierra Pacific selfreliant. In the 1960s and 1970s steam gen- eration plants were built at Tracy Power Station, 14 miles east of Sparks and Fort Churchill Power Station near Yerington. For the 1980s a coal-fired plant, now in the development stages, is to be completed near Battle Mountain. Since the early 1900s when Sierra's hydroelectric plants were operating along the Truckee, complex ma- chinery has replaced physical labor in many instances to make line maintenance and easier. With the continued growth of the and northern construction Truckee Meadows Nevada, Sierra Pacific, as in the past, must continually plan for the future . . . Daddy of First National Bank's three offices serving the City of Sparks is the Sparks Office at 1022 B Street. That's a block away from the original site established in January 1936, but means 40 years of continuous service within the city by FNB. Sparks native Jack Wood is assistant vice president and branch manager. X v 1 1 FIM? HATIVJNA ,,, Hr-yp,U.-. LEAN or L 2 The Greenbrae Office at 1962 Pyramid Way was opened on April 24 1961 The staff there is headed by assistant vice president and branch manager Ely Benedetti, who also is a Sparks High School grad- uate. Newest member of F NB's Sparks family is the McCarran Boulevard Office, headed by Branch Man- ager .lohn Warden, and open since Nov. 4, 1974, at 400 N. McCarran Boulevard, at Lincoln Way Extended. We've been growing with Sparks for nearly a half-century now, points out FNB Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer A.M. fArtJ Smith. C'We've known for a long time what a solid community it is. Smith should know. He was raised in Sparks, was graduated from Sparks High School and began his banking career at the Sparks Office back in 1940 as a bookkeeper He was named president of First National Bank in November 1967 and added the duties of chairman ofthe board in May 1968. When he retained the titles of board chairman and chief executive officer but turned over the office of president in October 1973, it was to another Sparks native and Sparks High School graduate, Ernie Martinelli. Many others who hail from Sparks currently hold down key positions with the bank. Among them is Edwin Giannotti, vice president and manager of the Reno District Trust Office. Peter C. Della Santa is vice presidf nt and head of the head office loan adjustment section. Still another Sparks grad now an FNB vice president is Reno N. Fruzza, who manages the big Las Vegas Main Office. And there are: Ronald MacLeod, assistant manager of the Kietzke 8: Roberts Office in Renog Loan Officer Morrey Troutner at the Sparks Office, Loan Officer JoAnn Roberts in the head office section currently revising the bank's Standard Practice Manual. And Operations Officer Frank Kinnell at the Reno Main Officeg Operations Officer Carole Pacheco Mathisen at Sun Valley, Operations Officer Paul Nannini of the Elko Main Office, and Assistant Operations Officers Geno Martini at Reno Main and Sam Macaluso of the Reno Trust Office. When you say banking, First National Bank of Nevada knows what you mean. And Sparks people are helping serve the residents of the City with Promise.
