16 Mi In 1909 the Sparks Sr. High was founded. The first classes were held in the basement of Robert Mitchel School until a building could be found. The first Sparks High School Building was completed in 1918. Sparks yard and facilities were the most modern on the S.P. Lineg complete with passenger and freight car services. During the 40's Sparks grew to connect with the Reno yards. By the 50,s the Rail- road began changing it's opera- tions to a switch yard and crew transfer station. The Roundhouse 8a Shops closed too. T BEHIND THE TREES-F 'li 1946 TOWN OF SPARKS WAITS FOR TRUMAN+ By the 60's most of the yard was changedg and all that is left now is the switch yard and a few maintenance shops. In l952 construction on the present school began and was completed by the '53-'54 school year. The new building was comprised of G-Hall, L- Hall, C-Hall, B-Hall, Large Gymn, and the Old Cafe.
