F.F.A. TRIBUTE TO FARRELL OLSON ln every organization, as in every human being, there is a potential to do good work, but it takes an inspiration to bring it out. Mr. Olson was our inspir- ation. The F.F.A. owes Mr. Olson a tremendous debt, for under his guidance our chapter became one of the top chapters in the State. Under his willing leadership and devotion, boys enioyed working toward building a better agri- culture - one of his deepest interests. During the twelve years Mr. Olson was vocational agriculture instructor at the high school, he trained nine state cham- pionship iudging teams. Like his iudging teams, Mr. Olson rated first place. His inexhaustable energy and thorough knowledge of his subiect gained him not only the reputation of being one of the best Ag. teachers in the State, but also the respect and admiration of his students. ln the classroom he was always considerate, and respected the opinions of others. A characteristic of his that was very much appreciated by all of us was that he never showed favor- itism. We got the most out of his classes because he maintained discipline with- out hurting anyone's feelings. We always felt that his criticism was fair and for our own good. He always encouraged boys to continue their education after high school, and helped them to obtain scholarships in order to do so. His genuine interest and willingness to serve carried outside the classroom in an unlimited measure. Mr. Olson was never too busy to counsel and encourage his boys in their problems or proiects. His help and companionship surely will be missed by all of us. He was full of fun and was a good companion, at the same time, he had high moral standards that set a fine example for us to follow. Because of his willingness to serve, he was one of the busiest men in town, but when we talked to him, our problems became his problems, and he immed- iately set out to help us find practical, sensible solutions to them. Probably Mr. Olson's outstanding characteristic was his geninue friendliness. lt has been said Friendship depends not upon fancy, imagination or sentiment, but upon charcter. Mr. Olson's character was so strong and so fine that each member of our Future Farmer chapter can honestly say, as Mark Anthony said of Caeser, He was my friend, faithful and iust to me. -John Creer ..5-
