They exhibited live stock in six fairs which included two in Cali- fognia. They also won the Utah State Championship in judging. I-if! William Swenson, J. Fred Skinner, and Arthur McKell represented Utah in the National Judging Contest at Kansas City, and won fourth as a team in livestock judging and second in judging cuts of meat. Wil- liam Swenson ranked second high in judging and received a S200 scholar- ship to any Agricultural College in America. The Union Pacific Scholarship for outstanding work in agriculture was awarded to J. Fred Skinner with William Swenson as alternate. Their F.F.A. Ball, annual program, and Father and Sons banquet were outstanding. Mr. Skinner and our local F.F.A. chapter certainly deserve the ap- preciation of the student body for the honors they have brought Spanish Fork High School' ORIGINAL QPERAS Four entirely original operas, Estralita, Jewel of Wof' Mayan Gold, and Egyptian Lullaby, have been presented in four successive years. Each has brought increasing fame and honor to the school. May- an Cwoldf, especially received wide publicity by being presented not only here and at Provo, but also at the U.E.A. convention in Salt I.ake City. Work each year has become more completely originalg Egyptian Lullabyv in every detail was planned by the students of the various de- partments. Spanish Fork High School claims the distinction of being the only high school in America to consistently create, develop, and produce its own opera. A,.AA i,2: ACTIVITIES fContinuedJ- SCHOOL PLAY The annual school play, Q'The Championu was successfully presented by a capable and well selected Cast. Gunboat XVilliams,,' the famous prizefighter, after many trials and difficulties, finally reconciled himself to the sophisticated English life of the Burroughs family. ' The fine coaching of Miss Partridge and the Cooperation of the stu- dent body also helped to make this production an outstanding one. SENIOR PLAY t'Cat-O-Nine Tails, a mystery play, presented by a very capable Senior cast certainly held the audience spellbound from start to finish. The Cat even hypnotized Theodora and baffled the detective in order to carry out his fiendish plans, but was finally captured by the guest, while the rest of the characters were being terrorized. The play was very successful during its three presentations and only goes to show what the seniors can do. DEBATING CLUB Organized October 31, 1933. Officers: Ray Brooks, President, Wesley Roper, Vice President, Marie Adamson, Secretary, Albert Kings- ford, Treasurer, Miss Partridge, Adviser. Competing team, June Hodge, Erank Swenson, Keith XVilde, Faye Thomas, Grace Stahmann, Lavinia Ludlow. EL AMICO The El Amigo Club leaves behind it a most commendable record. The willingness and the enthusiasm with which its members have sup- ported all school activities have helped to make this year a most successful one for all concerned. HOME ECONOMICS CLUB Although organized only last year, the Home Economics Club this year became affiliated with the national organization. Their activities were both numerous and beneficial. Their Christmas project was especially successful. Their 1933-34 officers were Margaret Marcusen, Lillian Bradford, Margaret Bell and Donna Halverson. TYPEWRITING TEAM The type team made a splendid showing in this years COntCStS. Dis- trict contest: Both teams first with highest average ever made in this district. Intermountain contest Cfour states representedj : Ann Skinner third as individual typist, combination of first and second year teams second. Such a record is assurance of still greater achievements. BAND New instruments, new uniforms, new music, participation in the B.Y.U.
