The cus¬ tomary honoring of the Alma Mater at games and pep rallies endured. “It wouldn’t be a pep rally without the Alma Mater,” remarked Brandi Wynn. As a sign of young love and devotion, girls wore boyfriends’ rings. Hair styles and cloth¬ ing fads returned loud and colorful, yet as stylish as ever. The ritual of Homecoming and Senior Prom did not alter. ”1 figured I worked about two weeks to get enough money to party for one night, said Brandon McComic, shaking his head. For the first pep rally, cheerleaders led a courtyard full of classmates in chants that filled the campus. Yell leaders enhanced crowd participation, spurring on the Cowboys. The louder we get, the better it is,” remarked Mark Pickett. Spirit towels, Guess t-shirts, and ’88 Homecoming fans served as additional indications of loyalty toward the school.
