QUIZ BOWL Southwood High School Quiz Bowl is competition which involves general knowledge and skill at play- ing the game. The team is chosen by double elimina- tion. A written test establishes the top ten, who then compete orally before scorekeepers. Row 1 - Robert Wilson, Brian Weaver - lst Alternate, Brandt Heinsner - 2nd Alternate. Row 2 - Miss Stinson - Sponsor, Kevin Duty, Chip Rimmer, Cassie Craner, Miss Garner - Sponsor, Mr. Langdon - Sponsor. QUILL AND SCROLL Quill and Scroll is an honorary organization which recognizes students' accomplishments in penmanship and other various types of jour- nalism. To obtain membership the student must be classified a junior or senior, rank in the upper one-third in their class, and have teacher recom- mendation. Also, the student must be involved in some phase of superior work of journalism for '84 Roundup two years. Quill and Scroll promotes the stand- ards of the profession ofjournalism by developing better journalists and teaching better ways of writing. PELICAN A STATE The objective of Pelican State is to educate youth in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship. They learn the duties of the various city, parish, and state offices and choose their own officials in accor- dance with regular election procedures.
