I , ll ,,.ll',, K5 It is the first day of school for the year '66-'67. Every- one feels a certain amount of excitement. This will be the first year at Southwood for many students and 21 few of the faculty members. The first week new and old Knights and Ladies will try to get into the swing of things. There are many new people to meet and also old. friends with whom to reunite. Of course, much excitement is shared among the students for developing the best school spirit yet. just where do you think you're going? George Burgues, a senior at Southwood, is living with Brian Kizer, a junior at Southwood. A.F.S. Dear Southwood Friends, When you are reading this yearbook the first time I am probably back home in Argentina again and one of the most colorful and Worth- while years of my life is over. I was very fortunate to get to spend it here at Southwood. I think that I have learned many things about United States and I also hope that you have learned a little about Argentina. I want to thank all of you, teachers and students, for making my stay over here such a wonderful experience, and I hope that I will see you again. Homecoming Highlights Days of campaigning finally came to a close as Queen Diane Mendenhall and court were chosen to reign supreme over HOMECO-MING HIGHLIGHTS. Princesses Sheila and Mary Ann made-up Diane's royal court, adding to the beauty and pageantry of the half-time parade and semi- formal homecoming dance. Skits were used to introduce the queen candidatesg before this step, homecoming posters lined the Southwood halls in an effort to win votes for the different con- testants. Illuminating a Friday night sky, the annual bonfire roared bright and warm as usual, adding just another touch of splendor to a per- fect event. The club promotes proficiency in use of the language and a general knowledge of the Spanish culture. Varied activities include the Christmas convocation, guest speaker, and movies. Languages are most important, and the growing membership of this club shows that the students attest to this fact. 2 ' C ' s Students enjoy a skit given by V, 8th graders during one of the W 5 year's meetings.
