We have received complaints from the student body regard- ing the inconveniences we have caused them.. It is time for us to complain about the petty inconveniences your insignificant squabbles have caused us. If you people complain, make it about something worthwhile. Your childish nature over an extended fifteen minutes during registration, your complete ignorance of se- lection of proofs, and objection of having a picture in the yearbook. A reason for not wanting the picture to appear to some people is because of an invasion of privacy. Your excuses bother us. Our answer— What would you have done during the fifteen minutes? Study? No, as a matter of fact, you would probably have been in the SUB drinking a Coke. And, regarding the invasion of privacy, your privacy is still entact. We don ' t know the juicy, intimate details, nor do we care to know. Look at this book, compare it with last year ' s. We believe you will agree that the total student body in this year- book looks better than a quarter of the same number in last year ' s. In the future, you will be glad that this year ' s staff established the policy of showing the whole student body rather than the few of yesteryear. This book is something we are proud of NOW. Wait twenty years before you burn this book. Really I should not be extremely critical about this factor because I have no substitution for what now exists. The fraternities quite often limit themselves to beer par- ties, but really I observe that this is very much liked. F.S. I ' ve stumbled into a pretty good school. I think this is one of the advantages of a small college or university mainly for the reason that a small campus does away with the hustle-bustle or auto- mobile comprised of people who I would not have met on the sidewalk unless otherwise. By some odd coinci- dence, I had been selected as one of the chosen few to be allowed a room, a bed, a chest of draw- ers and one half of a desk in the noble Martin- Ruter Dormitory. . . . The walls were stark naked, the blinds were pulled to the ceiling, and the towel rod in my closet was gone. I looked at my room and compared it to the memory I had of the rooms in Herman-Brown. At that time despair clouded into my mind. M.H. Southwestern, while having many fine qualities, often seems to be missing some- thing. It is situated in Central Texas which abounds with hills, beautiful trees and blue lakes yet while the campus is neat, well organized and quaint, this beauty seems only surface deep. While talking to many people one soon learns this campus has had its share of scandals and payoffs. E.P. but I am still lonely. I need my girl friend. P.L. Distractions in the dorm are very numerous. People come in and out while some try to study. Somebody will want to watch television or listen to the stereo. There is always someone who wants to go to the D.Q. around eight o ' clock every night and they want me to take them or they want me to lend them my car. When my roommates get tired of studying, which usually doesn ' t take long, they mope around the dorm looking for something to do. They can ' t understand why I don ' t want to go to Walburg every night. Most ot the time the only alterna- tive to this type of situation is to hibernate in the library. L.P. There is beauty and beauty — There is the chapel, so lovely, and then the beer busts There are those friendly people, also the fakes There are those genuine people always helping you. There are those professors warm and sympathizing, There are the tests — grind yourself in the floor! There are the cultured, courageous, the bitches and the bastards, too. There are fun parties, also the dull frat parties. There is noise and quiet. There is loneliness, happiness, and fun. I hate it and I love it. H.L. This idea is, however, a great fallacy . . . I need three hours of free time a day to play tennis to stay in shape. Here at Southwestern, I spend at least four hours a day in class, one hour for lunch, and five hours in lab. This limits my daytime prac- tice time to one hour which is not used for prac- tice but for study. A. A. I think that I shall never see A school as filled with apathy As our own Southwestern University. They wake, they rise, With bloodshot eyes From having fun and living lies. T.L. Keith Toole Brent Truitt Bill Wantuck «h There is no need in waiting for meeting people. They pop up and meet you The people are friendly. The campus is pretty. The teachers are all eager to help you. You can call it a pretty nice place to be. CI. herman-brown Southwestern may be small, but it draws the people closer together to make a more enjoyable atmos- phere. Friends are nice to have, and here friends you do make. Southwestern is a school to enjoy, but a school to work at. The achievements are more significant with the more time and work the person puts in. B. T. When I came to Southwestern, I was scared. I really didn ' t know why except that here I was coming to college. C.C. The agony of Southwestern is Organic Chemistry! Don ' t wait until the last night to STUDY, states Dr. Soulen, but everyone does. When will we ever learn?! D.O. If it hadn ' t been for Debbie Cheyne and Debbie Parker, the section would really have been in a mess. Those girls will take an idea and toy around with it till it becomes a masterpiece. Hope that you like this-rather-dull-section-to-put-together better than the past year ' s. Minds really clattered for several weeks coming up with a new plan.
