MESSAGE FKOM THE PRESIDENT President ' s Message: Service to institutions and individuals make one great. This Annual has been dedicated by the Editorial Staff to one who has rendered much service to this institution, its personnel and its student body. Dr. Dora Ann Stewart ' s life, as exemplified by her deeds, should ever be an inspiration to all of us. She has done much to promote the study of international problems and understanding by the students of this campus. I can think of no greater service than this. The existence of our present civilization depends upon the solving of our international problems. This must be accomplished through educa- tion. Let us re-dedicate our efforts in making Southwestern a greater in- stitution of service and learning. R. H. Burton, President

FOREWORD If out of the pages of this book march the memories of the romances, the friendships formed, the athletic victories, the httle things of big importance, and if in the years to come this book will fan into flames the dying embers of these memories, and enable you to recall and relive the happy hours of 1947-48, it will have served its purpose.

MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR I greatly appreciate the honor of having this opportunity to send greetings to the members of the faculty, alumni, and students of South- western Institute of Technology. I wish also to extend sincere congratula- tions to members of the graduating class and to the staff of the 1948 Bulldog. Second to none, the effectiveness of our educational institutions is a condition, which will determine and measure the future progress of Oklahoma.
