lin jllllemuriam NTO the day dreams of every college man, when books are on the shelf, come memories of a real friend- one whose teachings have since proved themselves true as gold, one whose counsel has proved wiser with each passing year and whose kindly, simple philosophy has become the guiding star of his every enterprise. We of the annual staff, knowing that the day dreams of many a Southwestern alumnus have been vitalized and enriched by the presence of that teacher and scholar, Audubon H. Neff, pause here to honor him who has re- sponded to that school bell wherein alone lies the complete wisdom.

Foreword . . . The Southwestern Institute of Technology is a growing school. New towers of purpose as well as new houses of learning are being added to the campus every year. New theories of educa- tion, new ideas of curriculum and administration are being initiated. lust as this is a changing school, so is this a changing and shifting world. The only things which endure are those seemingly abstract virtues which are based on the equality of every living creature and the integrity of human souls in the eyes of God. Such eternal principles form the foundation of our Democracy. It is for the per- petuation of these ideals that we selected the thread of Americanism to bind these pages. It is our hope, our earnest prayer, that in future moments of retrospect when we shall open this book, that it will be done in a peaceful world- that it will not only restore many happy memo- ries of college life, but that it will also be a re- minder. that the banners of our school and of our country are still flying because they are held aloft by the indomitable spirit of a free people.
